SOHIL VAIDYA
Director and Writer

Sohil is a writer and director based in Pune and Los Angeles. His films have been officially selected for more than 100 film festivals worldwide like Rotterdam, Melbourne, Chicago, Raindance, Athens(AIFVF), IFFI(Indian Panorama), Palm Springs, Rhode Island, Bogota Shorts, Edmonton, LA Asian Pacific, Kerala (IDSFFK), Newyork Indian Film Festival, etc. His USC thesis film Difficult People won him the prestigious Directors Guild of America's Award for Best Director. His recent short film Murmurs of the Jungle garnered him the Grand Prix Award at Melbourne International Film Festival(Previously won by Dennis Villnue, Louis Malle, and Werner Herzog). It also won Artistic Excellence Award at SCAD Savannah Film Festival and NFDC Film Bazaar(Best Short).
Sohil's works have been distributed and/or screened on various channels such as SBS Australia, PBS Rhode Island, Omeleto, Viddsee, and ShortTV US to name a few. He is chosen as BAFTA Fellow for their newcomer's program in Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of Southern California(USC) Film School with MFA in Film/TV Directing. At USC, Sohil was chosen to co-direct an episode for a Warner Brothers Studios-funded project, 'Samir'. Financing his education was only possible for him with the help of numerous scholarships such as the James Bridges Directing Scholarship and Edward Thomas Troutner Cinematography Scholarship.
Sohil is developing his first feature film named 'Aadim'(Primordial), a Marathi Neo-Noir Psychological Folk Thriller/Horror which was selected for NFDC Film Bazaars Co-Production Market. 2022.
